Why Give away 10% of profits?

My Helping Company Dream:

I have had a lifelong dream to create a company that helps those in need and the disadvantaged.  I will not be able to start this company right away, but depending upon responses here at Kickstarter, I will embark on this dream in stages.  This first step being contacting others for guidance, networking and creating a business plan.  

Then I will look into partnering up with like minded socially conscious business professionals… I know I will find them, if not, I will launch this by myself.

In a short time, I wish to start a company where a large percentage of profits go to charities and special needs programs.  In fact, it is my intent that 10% of net production profits will be donated to charities (such as the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, The Make-a-Wish Foundation) as well as to help support senior, youth and community programs.  In addition, whenever possible, packing, production and distribution will employ a pro-social workforce from under represented populations including work seeking homeless and elderly, the disabled and disadvantaged.  These efforts will change many lives for the better.

In fact, I will start with donating 10% of your contributions here on Kickstarter to charities of your choice (simply note your preferences), otherwise, when not specified, I will donate 10% of donations to The Make-a-Wish Foundation.

This helping cause is particularly important to me because my father died of liver Cancer that spread to his lungs.  My mother is a 20-year recurring Cancer survivor and both my grandfather and a dear friend died from Alzheimer’s related diseases.   Such things make one respectful of the fragility of existence and the great importance of helping others.  Unfortunately, these are all just dreams until I can start to production of these products.  Do you remember when you first started out?  Someone must have believed in you and supported you at some point.  Together, we can create something wonderful.
